Can We Dispense With Bullshit For 5 Seconds

by Bob Miller

I understand how difficult it is to comprehend what is going on when one minute preachers are talking about doing God's work, and the next minute we discover that the clergy is the #1 occupation when it comes to convictions for child molestation.

When politicians are saying things like "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" and then we discover that most, if not all, politicians are using the power of their office as if it were an ATM card. And that every PAC, regardless of their stated mission, is degrading and eroding the very foundation of the country for their own agenda.

The acceptance of crimes committed by political and corporate leaders in the U.S. and U.K. can be explained away as one chooses; but the inescapable fact is, humans, unlike four-legged animals, can look reality in the eye and deny it. Commerce is much superior to piracy. You can rob and kill a man but once, but you can cheat him again and again.

There is but one pie; the size of one's piece of that pie is determined by what he or she is willing to pay for it. I can only use myself as an example. At a very young age I started working for the federal government. I saw right away, to my amazement, that the government of the people, by the people, and for the people was bullshit. Washington is nothing more than a feeding trough with a very shallow end that gets progressively deeper as the risk and effort is advanced. I took a two week vacation to determine exactly how deep I was willing to go. I decided that I wanted to retire in my mid-thirties with enough money to live comfortably, but not extravagantly. I determined that to do this I only had to take low risk chances. I retired in my thirties except for a few jobs I have done for my government just to stay in practice. There is one thing that George W. Bush has said that I can relate to, "When I fly over a man in Air Force One who is digging a ditch and he looks up and says, 'There goes a crook', I look down and say, 'You dig your way and I'll dig my way.'"
