Maura Isles is a forensic pathologist in the Boston ME’s office. She’s just returned from a conference in Paris to find the police and a media circus in front of her house. Everyone’s mouth drops when they see her approach. There’s a car in the street with a dead body that looks exactly like Maura. The body is soon identified and Maura learns it’s the twin sister she never knew she had. Thus begins her search to learn more about her twin, Anna, and the mother who gave them up at birth. Mommy Dearest is a permanent resident in the state prison for women since she bludgeoned two women to death and burned their bodies. Maura and her Boston police detective friends follow leads to assorted characters and places. They soon discover all is not as it appears to be and they do have a monster on their hands. But catching one bad guy still doesn’t tell them who killed Anna. The story is well crafted with twists and turns to hold your interest. |
