Dying to Please Sarah Stevens is a poised and beautiful professional butler and bodyguard to the aged retired federal Judge Lowell Roberts. She lives above the garage on his estate in an affluent community just north of Birmingham, AL. One night she thwarts two burglars as theyre trying to carry out a 55 TV. The media does their usual overkill, and Sarah is reluctantly subjected to her fifteen minutes of fame. As the uproar over the break-in at the Judges estate dies down, Sarah begins receiving anonymous notes offering employment and an expensive gift. Shortly thereafter, on Sarahs day off, the Judge is murdered by someone he knew; he had let him/her into his home. Thus, Detective Thompson Cahill begins his investigation into the murder of the Judge and his pursuit of Sarah, the object of his affections. I wont go into all the details and subplots, but there are more killings before the cops put it all together. And Sarah runs into a bit of trouble. Its a quick, fun read for a summer afternoon. |
