The 37th Hour Sarah Pribek is a Hennepin County Sheriffs Department detective working missing persons cases. She was recently married to Michael Shiloh, a Minneapolis Police Department detective who works cold cases. Life is good for both of them as Shiloh (his preferred moniker) prepares to go to Quantico, VA because hes been selected for FBI training. When Sarah returns from a weekend visiting her former work partner who is on leave, Michael is missing; he never left on his scheduled flight to Quantico, and Sarah puts her detective skills to work looking for him. This is the authors first novel. My first suggestion to her would be to have shorter chapters. Twenty to thirty-some pages for chapters is a bit much for my taste. Presumably, the main plot is Sarahs search for her missing husband. Then theres another on-going subplot about Sarahs former partner, that partners daughters murder and the murderer. The author tends to jump around a lot, and I tried to keep up with where she was going or who she was writing about. The book says the author is working on another novel featuring the Sarah Pribek character. I hope shell be able to get the story to flow more easily. I understand some unanswered questions can lure readers to the next novel, but there were just too many in this book. |
