A Destiny of Fools
by Ejner Fulsang
Country girl with
a journalism background goes to the big city, New York, and makes it big on the evening
news. She covers the notorious John Nydegger trial, attends his faked execution, and ends
up on the run trying to find out why he's still alive.
What sets this
story apart from others is the time
it's 2085 AD, computers are sentient, and the
world has been hit by the Great Sterility Pandemic that started in 2005. Sophie Zapata's
generation is the next-to-last generation on earth; babies are a rarity.
The
story is an eerie look at what could happen in the next 70-80 years thanks to inept
governments and failing infrastructures. It's a good adventure story, but also makes you
really wonder what lies ahead for the next few generations.
