When I write
about Christians I often think, "I shouldn't say this. I have at least one or two
people like my friend LuisFTS who are Christians."
But history is on
my side. Take the Pope. For over three decades he did nothing about the Church protecting
God only knows how many sex offenders
and child predators. Only after the Church had to pay out millions, has it owned up to its
nasty deeds. No one can tell me different because I was one of those children. But not in
two life times will I take money that was given to the Church by people worse off
financially than I've ever been. This is not the Pope's money that he and his buddies are
handing out. It's money given by poor people to do God's work, not Satan's.
It was the
Christian block of voters that elected and reelected Bush and Cheney. Has this block of
Christians, or even one of its shepherds, come forth and said, "I was wrong. Because
of me and my colleagues over a million people have been murdered, we have destroyed our
countrys economy, and we have disgraced our flag. If we have any hope of forgiveness, we must impeach
this demon and make it right with the people of Iraq as best we can. I am sorry and ask
for forgiveness." No! They have not. And it's a good thing they haven't because the
only thing they're sorry for are any personal losses connected to Bush.
I'll not defend
the leeches that have sucked their way into the Church with the intent of destroying it or
the cowards who condone it. While speaking in churches all across the U.S., I never once
came across a single preacher who did NOT propose a private deal--a deal that would
benefit him alone. I could not believe the contention and pettiness. In each and every
case, I hadn't even learned the names of the elders before they were telling me who I
shouldnt deal with or listen to as this one or that one was a trouble maker. It was
unbelievable. I could have gone into any pawnshop or bar along my route and found more
harmony and integrity.
My first wife is
a member of the Church of Christ, my mother is a Pentecostal, neither of these women can
miss a Sunday meeting, and neither of these women can get home from that meeting without
saying something negative about the meeting or someone at it.
While McCain and
his crowd talks about Obama's church, McCain goes to church less often than he goes to
Congress to vote. He can't be accused of listening to a racist preacher, because he
doesn't listen to any preacher. And that just might be the good news, but who else have
you heard say that?
