In a business meeting this week, I sat
and listened to six business associates agree that it was okay for the Bush Administration
to authorize wire taps and censorship of U.S. mail without court approval because that
would keep us safe from terrorist attacks. Everyone at the meeting was a registered
Republican.
Just when the subject was about to
change I spoke for the first time, "I'm sure glad you guys agree with me that
President Obama can tap phones, go through our mail, set up secret torture camps around
the world, leak the names of intelligence agents who may have information that weakens his
agenda, and change or delete pertinent information that is to be presented to Congress
about controlling greenhouse gases so corporations can continue to pollute earth as they
please. You guys might want to go through your tax returns for the last seven years and
make sure you have reported the income from our little business arrangement in St. Thomas.
I have been reporting it, and I will be asking the Internal Revenue and the Security
Exchange Commission this week if what we have been doing is okay."
I said all this knowing that none of
these guys had declared this income because it was a cash project and we held a very
silent position in the operation, having put up some venture capital only.
One of the men who I had had harsh
words with on several occasions said, "Roger, how could you do this to business
partners? I think it's pretty damn anti-loyal."
I answered, "Why should I give a
damn about what a person thinks who doesn't give a damn about the image and economy of my
country, not to mention the health of the only known human-friendly planet in our
universe?" The meeting ended without another word.

There is one thing for sure Roger:
Republican hypocrites are going to whine day and night about Obama as they did about Clinton.
Clinton getting a haircut on Air Force One was a three-day news event. His getting some
oral sex was a two-year event. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney committing countless
felonies that would get the average citizen hung or life in prison is being accepted as
business as usual. What is so unusual and frightening about all this is the fact that this
Democratic Congress seems perfectly content with letting Bush and Cheney get away with all
this. It makes me wonder what they have planned. I'm hoping they decide that Texas (#1
polluter), South Carolina (Falwell idiots and tobacco growers), Pennsylvania (full of
Catholic child molesters) and Florida (Jew graveyard) are the "four axis of
evil" and bomb the hell out of them.
